Bohol is truly a nice place for tourists. From the Chocolate Hills to the Tarsier and floating restaurant, Everything is amazing. There are a lot of old catholic churches too that makes me remind of the Spanish term in the 19th century. So let's go to the tourists spots one by one.
Chocolate Hills.
That was afternoon when we went there. It was raining and what they said about it turning to brown and green is true and at that time, it was green. It is called Chocolate Hills because it turns brown during dry season. There was this one hill where you climb to the top and see almost all the hills around. When you reached at the top, you can hardly go down because the scenery really amazes those who have seen. This tourist spot in Bohol is already known internationally since I have seen a lot of foreigners happily taking pictures at the top of the hill.Prony.
The biggest python in the Philippines was Prony. She eats dozens of kilos of meat but he is friendly to humans. My brother even have a picture with her. She was worth to see because her size is really enormous. A family captured her in 1996 and decided to take care of her not knowing they could earn money from her. Unfortunately for those who would want to visit her today, you can't. She already died two years ago.
Tarsier & Floating Restaurant.
Without a doubt, seeing the Tarsier is one of the things most people want to accomplish while in Bohol. Tarsier is an indigenous specie only found in Bohol, Philippines. They are placed in a large place enclosed by nets. You can see them closely but you cannot touch them nor take a picture of them. They are very sensitive to touches and radiation from the camera. The tourist guide told us one story that one Tarsier died a day after a child held it in his hands. Since then, every tourist was being accompanied by a volunteer in protection for the specie. In addition to tarsier, beside the place is a river. And since a lot of tourists are going there to see the Tarsiers, the people there decided to make a floating restaurant called the Loboc River Cruise Restaurant. Of course, it is a hit. They served a lot of native delicacies which are really delicious and to die for.
These are just some of the places we went years ago which you can not visit now today. Last October, 2013, an earthquake hit the place causing damage to Chocolate Hills and the floating restaurant was destroyed. Until now, they have prohibited people from viewing the hills. Moreover, the Tarsier are not already for public viewing due to being labeled as endangered.
Still, no hopes gone. There are a lot more beautiful spots in Bohol which are worth travelling for. Recently, I have traveled to Bohol again and we went to some beautiful places. I have posted my recent experiences in Bohol and if you want to read them, click here.
